Jokanovic new favourite for Premier League axe

Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic is the new favourite to be the first Premier League manager to lose his job this season.

Jokanovic suffered a fourth straight loss at the weekend, as they were humbled by Bournemouth. The defeat left The Cottagers third from bottom, and with just one win to their name.

The Serbian is now under increasing pressure, but he is not fearful for his job and stated: “I am living in my present, it is a natural question to come from your side when you are not winning games.

“This question is normal. Really, I am thinking about the next training, what is the best way to help my team and the best way to make another plan for the next game. This is only what I focus around. I cannot think about different things.”

Jokanovic insisted that he was not under extra pressure because owner Shahid Khan saw the most recent defeat in person.

“I have a really good relationship with the owner but it is our professional relationship,” he added. “He expects from my side, like the supporters expect, victories.

“At the end it is natural he cannot be satisfied with our situation like I cannot be or my players or supporters.

“Personally, our relationship is fantastic, but he didn’t bring me here because I am a good lad or something, he brought me here to win games and this is my challenge and my work.”

Jokanovic has now been backed into 2/1 favourite, over taking Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho at the head of the market. Mourinho is now a 3/1 shot while 7/1 says Rafa Benitez calls time on his spell in charge of Newcastle.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Mourinho has headed the betting for some time now but a winless run of 10 games puts Jokanovic in sackable territory.”
