Jordan Pickford emerges as Chelsea target

England number one Jordan Pickford is the man Chelsea want to replace Thibaut Courtois, it has emerged.

Courtois is wanted by Real Madrid, and Chelsea are ready to sell as he has just 12-months left on his current deal at Stamford Bridge.

Now Chelsea are looking at options, and have already considered the likes of Leicester’s Kasper Schmeichel, their former number one Petr Cech, Paris Saint German’s Alphonse Areola and Jasper Cillessen of Barcelona.

However, Everton star Pickford has become their top target – although it remains to be seen if they could prise the 24-year-old away from Goodison Park.

Everton paid Sunderland £30million for Pickford last summer, and he has since enjoyed an excellent debut campaign and was one of England’s star players at the recent World Cup finals.

Indeed, it seems that Chelsea would need to break the world record for a goalkeeper – which is the £68million Liverepool just paid Roma for Alisson

In light of Chelsea’s interest in Pickford, it is little surprise that Bookmakers have reacted and make them firm favourites to land him, should he leave. PaddyPower rate Chelsea at just 12/5.
