Justify firm favourite to complete Triple Crown

Justify is looking to become only the 13th horse to win America’s Triple Crown this weekend.

The three-year-old colt has won all five of his starts including the first two legs of the Triple Crown the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes.

The Bob Baffert trained star is now going for the Belmont Stakes at Belmont Park and is looking to follow on from American Pharoah, who ended a 37-year wait for a Triple Crown winner just three years ago.

“It’s been an incredible journey,” Baffert said.

“It’s been quick. He’s handled everything thrown at him without losing his composure. A lot of horses get nervous, hot. He thrives on this. Not only is he a great athlete, but he has a great mind. In the Derby, the Preakness, he was in the paddock like he’d handled it all before.

“He’s a very fearless type of horse.”

Bookmakers firmly believe that the latest American superstar will deliver and Coral list him at Evens to take the prize.

“Justify has already got one race further than Saxon Warrior managed in his pursuit of the Triple Crown on this side of the Atlantic, and just three years after American Pharoah achieved the historic feat, Bob Baffert’s charge is a warm favourite to repeat the famous treble,” said Coral’s David Stevens.
