Juve on course for final after Monaco win

Juventus are well on course for the Champions League final after a 2-0 success in Monaco.

The Old Lady went into the first-leg of their semi-final in Monte Carlo firm favourites to progress and they lived up to their billing with an excellent display.

Monaco started brightly with starlet Kylian Mbappe going close twice, but it was Juve who went ahead on the half-hour with Gonzalo Higuain firing home after a great back-heel from Dani Alves.

The visitors doubled their lead on the hour and it was again the Alves-Higuain link-up as the Brazilian’s excellent cross found the ubiquitous Argentine to prod home.

Another clean-sheet for Juve and their legendary keeper Gianluigi Buffon means they have now kept six clean-sheets in-a-row in the Champions League.

Following the match – Juventus are now 13/8 to win the Champions League with Monaco rated at 40/1.
