Juventus believe they are close to finalising their deal with Aaron Ramsey, that will see the Welsh midfielder sign a pre-contract with them.
Arsenal midfielder Ramsey is free to talk terms with other clubs this month as he is out-of-contract in the summer, and he has not been short of suitors.
As well as Juve – Real Madrid, Paris Saint Germain, Juventus and Bayern Munich have all been in touch – but Ramsey is understood to have decided that Turin is the best fit for him.
Juve have not been slow in recent days to confirm their admiration of the 28-year-old – who they may yet try to sign this month, once a contract is finalised.
Their sporting director Fabio Paritici’s commented: “Ramsey is a very good player who has been playing at a high level for many years and who plays for an important club.
“He is a player whose contract is going to end and we always pay great attention to the situations offered by the transfer market because it is our duty, so we also pay attention to Ramsey.”
And Juve legend Andrea Pirlo added his weight to the decision to land him, saying: “He is a talented player, he is a complete player who can do pretty much everything. And he scores a lot.
“Ramsey is a great purchase.”
Betway’s Alan Alger said: “It had appeared that Aaron Ramsey was going to leave Arsenal in the summer, but we have seen a number of bets on the Welshman joining Juventus in January.
“The 28-year-old has been backed into 13/8 to join The Old Lady having been as big as 9/2 yesterday, with a stay at the Emirates on the drift at 4/7.
“Bayern Munich were another of the clubs mooted to be interested in the midfielder and we’ve seen a bit of support for them too at 14/1.”
