Juventus emerge as favourites to land Lukaku

Juventus are now firm favourites to clinch the signature of Romelu Lukaku from Manchester United.

Inter Milan have been locked in talks with United for weeks, but have been unable to agree a deal for the Belgian striker.

United want to recoup the £79million they paid Everton for Lukaku two-years ago, but Inter have not offered more than £60million.

But now Juve have stepped in and offered a deal involving their own Argentine striker Paulo Dybala – who is actually valued at more than Lukaku, although United would have no issues paying to finalise the deal.

Juve offered United a number of players, but Dybala is the one they really wanted.

Dybala returns for his summer break this week and will hold talks with new Juve boss Maurizio Sarri upon his return, after which point he will decide on whether he wants to move to Manchester – something United clearly hopes will pan out.

Should Dybala say no, then Juve would have to find the cash for the deal or try and offer other players – but they hope Dybala will leave, having told him he can move on.

Lukaku has made it clear to United that he does not want to play under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and although he did want to join Antonio Conte at Inter – he would have no issues with joining Juve and Sarri.

Bookmakers are now backing both Lukaku and Dybala to swap clubs, and they are odds-on to make the moves.

Betway’s Alan Alger said: “If the reports are anything to go by, Paulo Dybala and Romelu Lukaku will be swapping sides next season.

“Juventus’ Dybala is now just 1/3 to complete a move to Old Trafford as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to recruit the sort of personnel required to get his side back into the Premier League’s top-four.

“Lukaku’s future has been the subject of speculation for most of the summer and with a replacement in Dybala seemingly sourced, the Belgian striker is now 4/11 to head for a new challenge with the Italian champions.”
