England boss Gareth Southgate admits he is yet to decide on who will captain his side at the World Cup finals in Russia this summer, but Harry Kane is firm favourite.
The Tottenham striker first captained the Three Lions against Scotland last summer and he is now odds-on to skipper his country at the finals.
“We’ve been through a process of developing leaders in the group, more voices in meetings and not feel it’s the captain who is the only one who can make decisions and speak first,” Southgate said.
“When we get together we’ll speak about that in more detail.
“When we’ve been more successful like in ’96 we had six or seven captain in the team.
“We get together on Sunday and can think about it then.”
Bookmakers Betway make Southgate 8/11 favourite to be leading England out.
Betway’s Alan Alger said: “Harry Kane is one of the first names on Gareth Southgate’s team-sheet and he looks the obvious candidate at 8/11 to lead his country out in Russia next month.”
