The shortlists for the Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year have been announced and bookmakers are convinced they already know who has won.
Chelsea star N’Golo Kante is rated at just 1/9 to take the honour, his nearest rival for the honour is his team-mate Eden Hazard at 6/1.
Football INDEX Talk –The two favourites N’Golo Kante (£2.28) and Dele Alli (£4.13) will surely see some traction in the coming weeks when the awards are confirmed – both still look very good options to us.
Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: “Kante’s got this is in bag as far as the odds are concerned. It’ll take a brave punter to bet against him at this stage.”

Also in the contention are Manchester United’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic (20/1), Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez (33/1) and both Romelu Lukaku (40/1) and Harry Kane (50/1).
Tottenham striker Kane and Everton top-scorer Lukaku are also up for the Young Player award, but again they are not highly-fancied with Dele Alli as short as 1/12 to take that.
Also going for the Young Players’ prize is Burnley’s Michael Keane, Sunderland’s Jordan Pickford and Leroy Sane of Manchester City.
Our Football Insider Graeme Bailey feels a couple of names missed out on the main prize, including Alli.
“Clearly Kante is going to win, but I was surprised not to see Sadio Mane of Liverpool not mentioned – he has been top-class for them and can consider himself unlucky,” Bailey told TheGamblingTimes.com.
“Alli for me should also be in for the seniors, but he looks like he is winning the one for the Young Player of the Year so that is not as much of an issue – but even then Kane and Lukaku will be unlucky not to win that given their seasons.”
