Quizzed about Joe Hart’s possible arrival at Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp insists he is does not want to sign him and is more than happy with his goalkeeping department.

Liverpool have shown an interest in Hart and also Sunderland’s Jordan Pickford in recent months, but Klopp has long stood-by his current first-team goalkeepers in Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius.

Karius joined Liverpool on a long-term deal last summer, whilst Mignolet was also handed a new long-term deal just over 12-months ago – with Klopp always backing both players, despite some high profile errors from the pair.

So whilst many believe Liverpool do need a player like Hart – Klopp seemingly does not agree.

“He’s [Hart] a fantastic goalkeeper but we have highest quality goalkeepers,” said Klopp.

Asked whether he would sign Hart he replied: “Not at the moment and not in the future.”

Klopp also pointed to the fact that they have Welsh international Danny Ward, only 23, performing very well at Championship promotion contenders Huddersfield.

“And we have a goalkeeper playing a brilliant season at Huddersfield, there is competition here already,” he added.

It now remains to be seen if Liverpool’s hierarchy back Klopp’s stance over his goalkeepers – many bookmakers do not believe him with The Reds firm favourites to land Hart.

SkyBet list Liverpool as 9/4 favourites to land Hart – who is currently enjoying a season-long loan at Torino, having been told by Pep Guardiola that he was surplus to his requirements at Manchester City.

Our Football Insider Graeme Bailey confirmed to us that Liverpool still have an interest in Hart.

“Yes Klopp is backing his goalkeepers which is admirable and we know he is a loyal man, but Mignolet and Karius do not look like title winning goalkeepers in any shape and I have been told that Liverpool’s transfer team are big fans of Hart,” Bailey told TheGamblingTimes.com.

“I would not rule Liverpool out of this battle just yet.”
