Chelsea legend Frank Lampard has been backed in as one of the favourites to be the next manager of Oxford United.
The League One outfit need a new boss after Michael Appleton quit the club to become assistant to Craig Shakespeare.
Now as they look for a new boss – Lampard is being backed to get the role. Having starting at 10/1 he is now 3/1 to get the role – third in the betting.
Former Leeds number two Pep Clotet – who decided against following Garry Monk to Middlesbrough – is odds on favourite at 4/7 which Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is 5/2 and former Charlton man Chris Powell 8/1.
Ladbrokes News’ Dave Burin said: “We’re not ruling out Lamps’ arrival in League One next season, with the England legend now just 3/1 to take the reins at Oxford.
“However, right now it’s Clotet who’s favourite to be giving the Pep talks for the U’s come opening day.”
