Leeds to appoint Heckingbottom

Barnsley boss Paul Heckingbottom is set to take charge at Leeds United and Bookmakers have now suspended betting on him being the new man in charge at Elland Road.

Leeds parted company with Thomas Christansen after just eight months in charge of the club, but they have moved on quickly to secure his successor – sources say a deal will be announced on Tuesday.

A number of names have already been linked, but it Leeds are not straying too far from home as they are raiding near neighbours Barnsley.

Highly-rated Heckingbottom, though, does not come cheap as he has just signed a new long-term contract at Oakwell – but he is now set to depart with Leeds agreeing to pay his release.

Bookmakers were wide-open with their market when Christiansen’s departure but betting has now been suspended on Heckingbottom after being backed in to 1/6.

BetVictor’s Head of antepost Football Michael Triffitt commented: “Betting has been suspended after he was supported into 1/6 from an opening show of 12/1.  Simon Grayson, who has topped a number of managerial vacancies recently, is once again 4/1 market leader in the race to be next in at Oakwell.”
