Leicester look to reward Harry Maguire, and fend off interest

Leicester City have told Harry Maguire that they will make him the highest paid player at the club alongside Jamie Vardy this summer.

Vardy is in talks over a new deal which will net him up to £150,000-a-week and Maguire will get the same, following a stunning World Cup campaign.

Maguire has been one of the stars of Gareth Southgate’s campaign, and 12-months after moving from Hull City – he will be rewarded with a new deal.

Maguire is currently on just under £100,000-a-week, but he will get a near 50% pay-rise to sign a new and fend off interest from around the Premier League.

Leicester officials believe all of the top-six would happily take Maguire, and they already know Liverpool and Manchester United are keeping very close tab on him.

Bookmakers also believe that as it stands, Maguire is most likely to stay at Leicester and PaddyPower make him 4/6 to still be at the King Power Stadium next season.

Spokesman Paddy Power said: “Harry Maguire and his formidable head is slowly becoming one of the unexpected heroes of the World Cup.

“So, surely it’s going to be tough for Leicester to keep hold of him? As it stands, we think his loyalty to the Foxes could keep him grounded. But, with Spurs and Man United said to be sniffing around him… We’ll see if money talks.”
