Liverpool closing on Nabil Fekir deal

Liverpool are hopeful of sealing a deal for French starlet Nabil Fekir ahead of the World Cup finals.

Jurgen Klopp has made it clear to the club’s hierarchy that one of the summer moves made by the club would be to fill the void left by Philippe Coutinho – who joined Barcelona in January.

The likes of Christian Pulisic and Manuel Lanzini have been linked, and whilst they are keen on those two – Fekir has emerged as a transfer target they want to conclude as soon as they can.

Liverpool are ready to pay over £60million for the impressive 24-year-old, who has come through the youth ranks at Lyon, and has made their World Cup squad after a brilliant domestic campaign.

Speaking of his own future, Fekir insisted that he was just concentrating on what was coming with France, he added: “For now I am in Clairefontaine. Games are coming and I really don’t have my situation on my mind.

“I will let things happen but nothing is done. I have to talk with [Lyon president] Jean-Michel Aulas and we’ll see what happens next.”

Sources close to Liverpool have indicated that they believe a deal is close, and Bookmakers too think a deal is a good as done, with PaddyPower rating a deal at 1/10 – which is over 90% probability.

Spokesman Paddy Power said: “Looking at the odds, Fekir is all but wearing a Liverpool shirt and Klopp’s wasting no time in getting players in the door.

“And, who knows, he could be walking straight into a Champions League-winning team. The little Fekir.”
