Liverpool not giving up on Naby Keita

Liverpool have seen a bid of nearly £60million rejected by RB Leipzig for star Naby Keita, but Jurgen Klopp is still pushing for a deal to be done.

Keita is widely seen as Liverpool’s top summer target, but they have struggled to convince Leipzig to sell – who remain insistent he is not leaving.

As we revealed earlier this month, Liverpool have been pushing on with trying to do a deal, which saw them lodge their record bid last week.

Sources insist the 22-year-old Guinea international is trying very hard to convince Leipzig to let him leave, and Liverpool are ready to go back with a bid nearer the £65million mark – which would make him one of the most expensive players in Premier League history.

Leipzig’s sporting director Ralf Rangnick says a world record fee would not be enough to convince them to sell – and given they are owned by the Red Bull corporation, finances are not an issue.

Liverpool remain hopeful that Keita’s stance could be the deciding factor in the deal. Keita is widely regarded as one of the best young midfielders in European football.

We spoke to SkyBet’s Dale Tempest to get their view on the market. SkyBet make him odds on to join Liverpool at 1/2, whilst he is 6/4 to remain with Leipzig.

“Liverpool look like the only team prepared to meet Leipzig asking price so there looks very little in the way of Klopp getting his man,” he told TheGamblingTimes.com.
