Man City in the mix for Isco

Manchester City have told Real Madrid they would be interested in taking Isco off their hands, if indeed, they are looking to sell the Spanish ace this summer.

25-year-old Isco is far from a first-team regular under Zinedine Zidane, even though he is now a key player for Spain, and he was the star of the show as he bagged a hat-trick in their memorable 6-1 win over Argentina.

After the game Isco revealed that he had more confidence from Spanish coach Julen Lopetegui than his club boss Zinedine Zidane.

“In Madrid, I don’t have the confidence a player needs, ” he said.

“I want to show that I’m a good player. Lopetegui shows me confidence with the minutes he gives me. Maybe I’m the problem in Madrid. I don’t know how to win Zidane’s confidence.”

Now a number of club are understood to have contacted Real to confirm their interest, but City are heading the queue.

City have two prime targets this summer – a midfielder and a forward, and Isco does fit the bill for Pep Guardiola’s side.

It would take at least £80million to land Isco, and City have told Real they want him – but they are not alone with Bayern Munich and Paris Saint Germain also keen.

However, Real have yet to decide on Isco’s future and much may depend on whether Zidane continues as boss beyond this season.

Bookmakers have reacted to City’s reported interest and Paddy Power cut the odds on them landing him to just 7/4 – but they still make Real most likely to keep him at 1/3.

Spokesman Paddy Power said: “It looks like Pep is about to have a Disco. An Isco Disco, that is.

“The Spaniard looked incredible against Argentina and has been backed in to join the Blues.”
