Man United keen on Harry Maguire

Manchester United have made an approach for Harry Maguire, but Leicester will fight to keep the England defender.

The England World Cup star is being offered a bumper new pay contract in-line with a contract being offered to Jamie Vardy – which would be worth around £140,000.

However, Maguire has now emerged as a target for United – after they decided to look at other options after failing to broke a deal with Tottenham for Toby Alderweireld, as Spurs refuse to lower their asking price of £75million.

United, though, may have to pay more than that to land Maguire – with some sources believing that they may have to break the world record £75million fee for a defender, which Liverpool paid for Virgil van Dijk in January.

It is believed Jose Mourinho wants another option to battle with Eric Bailly and Phil Jones for a starting spot.

Bookmakers have reacted across the board and now make him odds on to seal a deal for him, Betway now make him 8/15 to move to Old Trafford.

Betway’s Alan Alger, said: “There’s been further support for Manchester United to sign Harry Maguire this morning and it’s now odds-on at 8/15 that Jose Mourinho gets his man.

“His impressive World Cup in the heart of England’s defence has caught the attention of several Premier League big hitters and Leicester, who have drifted from 8/11 to 13/10 to keep Maguire, have a tough transfer battle on their hands.”
