Manchester United are confident they will be able to complete deals for their top-two remaining transfer targets Ivan Perisic and Nemanja Matic.
United boss Jose Mourinho has made it clear he wants two more players, highlighting a midfielder and a wide-man.
“I’m happy with my squad but I would like to have two more players, I never hide that, one player a midfield player would give me more options to the balance and the team,” he said.
“Another one an attacking player, especially that can play through the wings to give me more attacking options but I never speak about players that belong to other teams.”
And sources close to United have told me that, although they have a number of options still available to them, Perisic and Matic are the ones at the top of their lists.
A deal with Inter is understood to be close, whilst they have already opened up dialogue with Chelsea.
On Perisic, Inter’s head coach Luciano Spalletti has made it clear that Perisic could be on his way.
“If someone comes in with a very difficult offer to reject, then we’ll consider that. But we’ll need to find a valid alternative to Perisic too,” he said.
Bookmakers believe that both Matic and Perisic are United-bound, and both are odds on for the move.
The duo are 8/11 with Ladbrokes for the pair to make the move, Matic is 1/5 and Perisic is 2/5.
Ladbrokes’ Richard Marsh told us: “Man United have already smashed the £100m mark this summer, but the odds suggest they’re still poised to welcome not one, but at least two more arrivals at Old Trafford in Matic and Perisic.”
