Course form is often so important at Southwell and MIDNIGHT MALIBU has a great record here having scored over course and distance on two seperate occasions, both times off a higher mark. It looks an open race and punters were quick to latch onto the 9/1 this morning.

GOWRAN PARK

DOUNIKOS is the big mover in the Thyestes Handicap Chase at Gowran Park today. The 8yo has been kept in top handicap company lately suggesting the yard think he can land one and this Grade 2 winner is starting to slide down the weights. What’s more, we’re paying an EXTRA PLACE on this race and have seen plenty of each-way support.

We also pay an EXTRA PLACE on the 1.05pm at Wetherby and the 1.15pm at Southwell today.

DONCASTER – SATURDAY

Yorkshire Rose Mares Hurdle

Keith Dalgleish’s 4yo CHICA BUENA has been nibbled for Saturday’s Grade 2 at Doncaster. She gets a hearty weight-for-age allowance and has shown a decent level of form. The race could cut up and the each-way support suggests she’s a likely runner but punters will have to weight until declarations to be certain!

Unibet Irish Gold Cup

Our traders report money for BELLSHILL for the Unibet Irish Gold Cup a week on Sunday. He was fourth in the Grade 1 Savills Chase under Ruby Walsh behind Kemboy on his only start this season. The pace of the race that day probably didn’t suit and he’s entitled to improve for that run too. He showed he has the ability when landing the Punchestown Gold Cup last April and it’s interesting we’ve seen money for him all of yesterday.
