Markets closed on Ronaldo as talks continue

Bookmakers have closed their betting markets on Cristiano Ronaldo as his move to Juventus edges closer.

It emerged earlier this week that Ronaldo had decided his future lies in Turin, and he has made it known to Real Madrid that he wants to join the Italian champions.

Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes is now working on the details of the move, which looks to be in the region of £90million.

Real are not likely to stand in Ronaldo’s way given the service he has given to the club, which has seen him lead them to three successive Champions League titles.

The 33-year-old is now thinking about his future, and he ideally wants to end his career in America and he would like to invest in a Major League Soccer franchise, which is why Mendes has been in talks with the Agnelli Family – owners of Juve.

The Agnelli Family took the talks further and now the relationship looks set to begin with Ronaldo moving to Turin.

Ronaldo and Juve are now hoping a deal could be agreed by next week, but that will depend how talks go over this weekend.

Bookmakers, though, firmly believe Ronaldo is heading to Italy, and have stopped taking bets.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “He’s long been linked with a move away from the Bernabeu, and while a return to Man United once looked on the cards, it’s Juve who’ve seemingly come out of nowhere and now look set to make a mega move.”
