Markets open on Oxlade-Chamberlain exit

Liverpool have been made early favourites by bookmakers to be the landing point for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – who is reportedly unsettled at Arsenal.

The England midfielder has been linked with a move away from the club as he struggles to become a first-team regular under Arsene Wenger.

Liverpol, as well as both Manchester City and United, have been linked with the 23-year-old – although Wenger has insisted he does not want him to leave.

Wenger said: “I haven’t seen that [he is unhappy]. I’m surprised by that because I believe that he has been developed well, he is developing well at the moment and he has been given his chance. When you are somewhere, you have to want to be there first.

“After that, the only thing I can say is that personally I rate him highly. I showed that in the way I keep faith in him when he spent long times out injured. He’s developing very well at the moment.

“I personally wish that he stays at the club, because I think he’s a very promising player who has developed very well and who looks to me to have the values that we rate at this club.”

SkyBet have responded by opening a market on his future, but they clearly feel he will remain at Arsenal.

Odds on where Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will be playing next season:
To Stay at Arsenal 8/13
Liverpool 5/1
West Ham 6/1
Everton 8/1
Manchester City 10/1
Crystal Palace 12/1
Manchester Utd 12/1
Southampton 14/1
Newcastle 25/1
