Japanse star Hideki Matsuyama is the man the Bookmakers are running scared of at this week’s US PGA Championship.

The world number three captured the WGC Bridgestone last week and he sealed the win with a jaw dropping 61.

Off the back of that superb performance at the Firestone Country club, his odds have been slashed on him landing his first major at Quail Hollow this week.

He is now third in the betting at 11/1 having come in in from 20/1.

Two-time PGA champion Rory McIlroy is the current favourite at 13/2 and Jordan Spieth, who is aiming to become the youngest golfer ever to complete the career Grand Slams, and is 9/1.

“Jordan Spieth will have to see off 13/2 favourite Rory McIlroy if he is to make history at Quail Hollow Club and despite his 9/1 second favourite status the punters have made it a Matsuyama v McIlroy battle ahead of tee off.”
