Mbappe not in Guardiola’s plans

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has insisted that he and the club are not targeting French star Kylian Mbappe.

Mbappe has emerged as one of the top players on the planet in the last 12-months, which saw him join PSG from Monaco and then helped France to claim World Cup glory this summer.

He has been linked with a move this summer with the likes of Real Madrid and Juventus keen, whilst City were also reportedly looking at doing a deal, which may have included Raheem Sterling being sold to finance it – but Guardiola has insisted that is not the case.

Asked about a possible deal for Mbappe, he said: “That is not going to happen. Sometimes I don’t understand where the news comes from. Manchester City don’t have, and are not going to spend, the money that maybe Mbappe deserves, or PSG deserves.

“PSG is not going to sell this kind of player to any other club in the world for the next years, I guess. So that is not going to happen. Mbappe is not going to come here and we are not going to swap Raheem [Sterling] or another top player that we have.”

Despite, Guardiola’s denials – Bookmakers make City favourites to be Mbappe’s next landing spot with BetVictor putting them at 6/2, ahead of Real Madrid on 16/1.
