Could Morata and Ronaldo join United? Bookies think so

Bookmakers have slashed the odds on Manchester United making a double swoop on Real Madrid, landing both Alvaro Morata and former star Cristiano Ronaldo.

United are in advanced talks over Morata – and we have confirmed that they are confident of doing a deal in the next week, as they are ready to up their offer to around £80million.

But the sensational story that has emerged over the weekend is Ronaldo’s revelation that he wants to leave Real Madrid this summer.

And should he get his wish, a return to United would clearly be one of his preferred options.

Bookmakers now make a double deal as short as 2/1 for both players to make the move.

Ladbrokes News’ Richard Marsh said: “It had been wondered if the Ronaldo revelation may de-rail Man United’s Morata moves, but it seems Jose Mourinho could steal all the attention this summer and welcome both Real superstars.”

We spoke to our Football Insider Graeme Bailey, who is far from convinced Ronaldo will be moving and told us: “I just can’t see him leaving, I see this as a reaction to the tax issues and it is a signal to either the Spanish authorities or Real’s hierarchy – or perhaps even both – to get it sorted, otherwise he would leave.

“Morata as we know is a different case and I expect him to join United.”
