Mourinho new favourite in sack race

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has seen his odds cut to be the first Premier League manager to leave this season.

Mourinho’s odds on leaving before Christmas were chopped after their transfer deadline day failure, which saw the club fail to bring in a defender which the Portuguese tactician demanded.

And in only their second game of the season, the defensive frailties were highlighted by a shock 3-2 loss at Brighton on Sunday.

Now Bookmakers have reacted by slicing Mourinho’s odds on him being the first top-flight boss to leave his post this season.

BoyleSports cut Mourinho into 9/2 from 5/1 after the defeat at the AMEX Stadium.

Lawrence Lyons, spokesperson for BoyleSports said: “Things were looking perilous for Jose Mourinho before the season had even started and it shouldn’t take many more performances like that at Brighton for the tide to turn completely against him.

“We saw some significant bets on him being the next manager to go before the Brighton match had even finished so it’s safe to say some punters think Jose’s days are numbered.”
