Mourinho odds-on to leave this season but Hughes is sack race favourite

Jose Mourinho is odds-on to leave Manchester United before the end of the season, as their struggles continue.

United’s 0-0 draw with meant this is their worst start to a season this century – 28-years to be exact. It is the fourth time in nine games that the Red Devils have failed to score at home this term.

Mourinho is becoming more and more critical of his players.

“The solution is that probably I have to make certain choices based on ‘heart’, and then probably I will blame myself because I will think that heart is not enough and I am missing here some quality,” said Mourinho.

“You can improve. You can influence players, especially when they are open to it, when a player realises he has to give more and change his nature.

“When they are open, they change. They change a little bit, not the DNA but the players’ emotional qualities.”

Mourinho is now odds on with bookmaker Coral, at 8/11, to not be Manchester United manager for their final league game of the 2018/19 season.

“Things had improved for Jose but another drab home draw has seen the critics come out once again and with United struggling to keep pace with the top four we make him odds on to not be there for the final league game of the season,” said Coral’s Harry Aitkenhead.

United are now 3/1 to not finish in the top six this season, with Everton overtaking them this weekend.

In terms of the Premier League sack race and next out of the door, Mourinho has been cut to 8/1 – and is third favourite, with Palace boss Roy Hodgson at 7/1 but the clear favourite to go is Southampton’s Mark Hughes at 4/7.
