Willie Mullins was upbeat over the shape of Gold Cup prospect Djakadam and JLT Novices favourite Yorkhill after both were given run-outs at Leopardstown on Sunday.
Mullins sent out his brigade following racing at Leopardstown and was very pleased with how Djakadam and Yorkshill responded.
“Djakadam has not run since Christmas, but I think he is best when fresh and I was very pleased with him there today,” said Mullins.
Djakadam is widely considered third favourite for the Gold Cup and is best priced 9/2 with Betfair.
On Yorkhill he added: “He went a bit left at the first few fences and then he jumped high and Ruby said he gave himself a bit of a fright early in the back straight, but he was electric after that when they went quicker.
“We might school him again before Cheltenham and he’ll go for the JLT.”
Yorkshill is priced at 6/4 with Betfair for the JLT Novices Chase.
One issue for Mullins saw RSA Chase prospect Bellshill take a tumble.
“He’s a little bit stiff afterwards, I’d have liked to have schooled him again after that, but because he was a little bit stiff it was best not to and we’ll see how he is in the morning,” said Mullins.
“Rule Supreme did fall here in a schooling session and went on to win the RSA Chase.”
Bellshill is rated at 10/1 by Betfair for the RSA Chase.
