Nabil Fekir could still move to Liverpool

Liverpool’s pursuit of Lyon’s Nabil Fekir is not dead, despite the transfer failing to go through before the World Cup finals begun.

Sources who are aware of some of the finer details, believe that the move to Anfield could still happen – despite the deal breaking down because of concerns over his knee.

Lyon stated once the move had collapsed that Fekir would be staying, but it is still a real possibility that the 24-year-old departs.

Speaking from France’s World Cup camp in Russia, the player has admitted that he will look at his situation later in the summer.

“I am here with France, I am happy, and I am not here to discuss my personal situation. We will see about all that later,” he said, also insisting that there was nothing wrong with his knee.

He added: “Regarding my knee, everything is fine.”

Fekir’s representative, Jean-Pierre Bernes, has also told French TV that the deal could happen.

“He didn’t sign because… it is not over! This is not the end of the story,” he said.

Bookmakers believe that Liverpool are very much favourites to land Fekir, if he leaves and PaddyPower rate them at just 6/5.

Spokesman Paddy Power said: “The Nabil Fekir to Liverpool drama keeps rumbling on… Will we see him in a red shirt or not?

“The odds suggest the dream is still alive, but we just can’t keep up with the little Fekir!”
