Newcastle back in top-flight – Bookies react

Newcastle United have sealed promotion back to the Premier League at the first-time of asking.

A 4-1 win over Preston North End was enough for Rafa Benitez’s men to join Brighton & Hove Albion in the top-flight next season.

Ayoze Perez scored twice go helped Newcastle to the win and seal their place back in the Premier League and bookmakers are already anticipating Newcastle making an impact back in the top-flight.

bet365’s Steve Freeth said: “We may have dodged not one bullet but two with the extremely well backed Newcastle unlikely to win the title and Dwight Gayle falling short in the Top Goalscorer charts but we think Rafa’s side can be competitive next season.”

The Magpies are 750/1 to win the Premier League, 25/1 for a top-six finish, it’s 3/1 they end the campaign in the top half with 7/2 being quoted about relegation – making the Tyneside giant’s a 2/11 chance to avoid the drop.

Gayle is 100/1 to be the Premier League’s top goalscorer next season and 33/1 with the firm to score 20 or more top flight goals during the campaign.
