Non-league fancies for FA Cup

The draw for the first round of the FA Cup has been made and sees some mouthwatering potential giant killing ties.

There are still three teams from the eighth tier in the draw, Hyde United, Heybridge Swifts and Ossett Town.

Hyde have been given a plum tie after being drawn at home to League One Milton Keynes Dons, whilst Heybridge have a trip to Exeter City.

Ossett could face Wycombe Wanderers at home – but they have to overcome National League Solihull Moors in a replay first.

Another stand-out tie sees Barnsley-based minnows Shaw Lane handed a home clash with big-spending League Two Mansfield Town.

National League Sutton, who were beaten by Arsenal in the last 16 last season, face a trip to Cambridge United.

With a number of non-league clubs remaining in contention, Bookmakers fancy around three to four to make it through.

BetVictor’s Head of ante post Football Michael Triffitt commented: “After the exploits of Sutton and Lincoln City in last season’s FA Cup, the Non League profile in the event has risen and after five clubs reached the Third round last season a repeat this year is a 9/4 chance. 3 or 4 representatives is 5/4 whilst nought to two clubs can be backed at 7/4.”
