Odds-cut on Gold Cup favourite Presenting Percy

Presenting Percy has shortened up as favourite for the Cheltenham Gold Cup.

The eight-year-old Bay Gelding made his 2019 debut with victory at Gowran Park in the Galmoy Hurdle.

He has now won seven of his last ten races, and the Gold Cup favourite is now 3/1 from 4/1 for the race with Ladbrokes following on from the victory.

His closest rival in the betting is Native River at 5/1.

Owner Philip Reynolds admits they have their eye on the Gold Cup.

“I’ll only get one shot at this so I’m going to give him every chance I can, and if it doesn’t work out this year, there’ll be another year, I hope. But all roads still point to the blue-riband event,” said Reynolds.

Nicola McGeady of Ladbrokes said: “Presenting Percy has cemented his position as Gold Cup favourite after winning the Galmoy today. Before the race we didn’t see any money for him for Cheltenham, but now that we know he’s fit and well, we are expecting support to increase.”
