Odds slashed on Wenger to leave

The future of Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is again up in the air, following their 3-0 Carabao Cup defeat to Manchester City at the weekend.

Defeat at Wembley, meant Arsenal’s hopes of silverware rest on the Europa League – as well as their top-four hopes.

Wenger’s side missed out on top four-finish last season, and they are again way off the chase this season, currently ten-points adrift of fourth and it is this poor form which has again led to many Arsenal fans questioning their 68-year-old boss.

Wenger has a contract to 2019, but it is now odds-on that he will leave before that – ending 22-year stay at the club.

And the veteran French tactitian admitted he was not certain to remain, when asked if the current campaign will be his final one in the Emirates, Wenger responded: “Who knows?”

Now the odds on him being in charge next season have been slashed to 5/6.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “It won’t be long before the Wenger Out banners are back on display at the Emirates, and the latest odds suggest the board may finally take action.”
