Ozil odds-on for January move

Arsenal are desperate to get rid of Mesut Ozil, and he is odds-on to leave the club in January.

The 31-year-old former German international midfielder, has yet to feature in the Premier League for The Gunners this term, with head coach Unai Emery less than happy with his efforts in training.

“I am thinking every time to decide with the best players for each match and the best players in the squad to play and help us,” said Emery.

“When I decided he isn’t in the squad, it is because I think another player deserves it more.”

Ozil has 18-months left on his deal, but he is one of the highest paid players in English football on over £300,000-a-week and it is his large wage packet that has prevented a move – as nobody is able to get near his salary.

A move to Turkey, the land of Ozil’s heritage, has long been mooted and loan deal in January looks likely with Fenerbahce, Galatasaray, Besiktas and Istanbul Basaksehir keen to land him – whilst a number of foreign clubs in the Middle East, China and America are also keen.

Arsenal will have to swallow a large chunk of his wages, but it appears a deal could be done.

Ozil is now being priced at 1/2 to leave in the New Year.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Rumour has it Ozil has played his last game for the Gunners and the odds certainly suggest that could be the case, with a winter move seemingly inevitable.”
