Paddy punter leaves it late

A punter from Derbyshire has logged into his Paddy Power account to discover he’d won £117,485.16 on a bet he’d placed on the final day of the Premier League season.

The man had placed £5 on a 10-fold accumulator, correctly predicting the result of every game on the last day of the 18/19 campaign on Sunday 12th May.

He called that there would be three draws – and that Cardiff would win at Old Trafford. It was Cardiff’s first win against Man United since 1954.

His other selections were Man City to beat Brighton to secure the title, Arsenal to beat Burnley, Crystal Palace to beat Bournemouth, Newcastle to beat Fulham, Leicester and Chelsea to draw, Liverpool to beat Wolves, Southampton and Huddersfield to draw, Tottenham and Everton to draw and West Ham to beat Watford.

The bet came in at eye-watering odds of 23,496/1, but the winner failed to log in and notice his victory until today, May 22nd, 10 days after the season ended.

Spokesman Paddy Power said: “Like finding a winning lottery ticket down the back of the sofa, this punter hadn’t realised he was over £117,000 richer from an accumulator he had on the last day of the season.

“He predicted the result of every game, including a loss for United against Cardiff, which in hindsight could’ve been the most obvious of the lot – but didn’t find out until 10 days after the event!”
