Palace insistent on Zaha stay

Crystal Palace have no intention of letting Wilfried Zaha leave the club this summer, indeed they are open to giving him another pay rise.

The 25-year-old has enjoyed another brilliant season at Selhurst Park, being crowned their Player of the Year for a third successive year.

He only signed a new five-year contract last summer, but Palace chief Steve Parrish will not entertain losing his start man and is willing to bump up his wage packet again.

Tottenham have long been interested in Zaha, whilst Chelsea and Arsenal have also been keeping an eye on his situation – but the player is known to be wary about leaving Palace again following his ill-fated move to Manchester United earlier in his career.

Palace would not even entertain offers of less than £50million for Zaha and boss Roy Hodgson has made his position clear, knowing that the player played a huge part in The Eagles beating the drop this season.

Bookmakers firmly believe that Parrish will get his wish and keep Zaha and he is odds-on at 4/6 with Betway to still be in South London at the start of next season.

Betway’s Alan Alger said: “Wilfried Zaha has had a cracking season and will have caught the eyes of a number of clubs, with Chelsea appearing to be his most likely destination at 4/1.

“Chelsea have been well-backed to land Zaha since we opened up a number of new transfer markets while Manchester City, 5/1, and Tottenham, 6/1, could also be lining up moves.

“It’s 4/6 for him to remain an Eagle, which at least gives Palace fans a glimmer of hope, though that price could grow once the window opens and the bids come flying in.”
