Everton’s ability to first-team football from the off has put them ahead of Manchester City and Liverpool in the race Jordan Pickford’s signature
A host of Premier League clubs have been talking to Pickford’s representatives about his next move – with Sunderland accepting he can move on, following their relegation to the Championship.

Manchester City had been very keen to land the 23-year-old, and they remain so – but I understand they are looking to bring in another experienced goalkeeper, and have targeted Victor Valdes – who has impressed so much at Middlesbrough this season – and would want Pickford to compete with him and maybe Claudio Bravo should he stay, although they are open to his departure.
Liverpool have also shown a genuine interest, but like with Man City – they would want him to possibly act as back-up before graduating to number one.
Pickford, though, does not want to spend time on the bench having enjoyed a full season in the Premier League and that is one reason he is leaning towards a possible switch to Goodison Park.
Pickford – who has been called up to the senior England squad – would more than likely start the season as Everton’s number one and they are now looking like favourites to land his signature.
City, though, have now yet given up and are willing to match any offer made – with Sunderland getting an initial £17million with the deal been worth over £20million with add-ons.
