PL Round-up – Black Cats lives run out

Sunderland were hanging on against Bournemouth from inside the first minute when a clever corner was put wide. The game was a niggly bad-tempered affair and both sides believed they could have had penalties from tussles in the box before Josh King scored his 15th goal of the season on 88 minutes unleashing another exodus of fans and a wave of vitriol aimed at David Moyes from the remaining supporters.

The 1-0 win lifts Bournemouth into 10th just behind neighbours Southampton who drew 0-0 with Hull City and could have claimed the win when Dusan Tadic missed a late penalty with Jakupovic saving well to his left. Hull might have been aggrieved not to have won it as Cedric cleared off the line from their corner moments later.

Jamie Vardy seized on Salomon Rondon’s sloppy backpass to score his 12th goal of the season to beat West Brom 1-0 and lift Leicester City to within sight of the top half.

The other game saw Stoke City and West Ham draw 0-0 at the Bet365 stadium which more than likely secures PL football for both teams next season.

In the late match Burnley claimed their first away win of the season 2-0 at a lacklustre Crystal Palace. Ashley Barnes swept the first home after five minutes before Andre Grey sealed the victory five minutes from time.
