Premier League fixtures confirmed – City and Liverpool backed to start in style

The Premier League fixtures for the next season have been revealed, and already people are looking at Manchester City and Liverpool to begin in style.

Last year’s top two in the Premier League are odds-on to begin next season where they left off by starting their 2019/20 campaigns with victories after learning their opening day opponents.

BoyleSports make it just 1/2 that both Liverpool and Manchester City begin with victories after they paired with Norwich and West Ham respectively when the opening day fixtures for the new season were released on Thursday.

Norwich face odds of 14/1 to return to the top flight with a victory at Anfield on Friday 9th August, while West Ham are 15/2 to put an early dent in Pep Guardiola’s bid for a Premier League hat-trick in the early kick-off on Saturday.

The standout fixture sees Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first full season in charge at Old Trafford begin with the Super Sunday visit of Chelsea and the Red Devils are 5/4 to strike an early marker as they bid to improve on last season’s 6th place finish.

Manchester City are the 4/6 favourites to win their third consecutive Premier League trophy with Liverpool second favourites at 5/2 to end their long title drought, while Manchester United find themselves out at 25/1 to win their first title in the post-Alex Ferguson era.

At the other end, the three promoted sides are in most danger of the drop with Sheffield United (4/6) and Norwich (10/11) both odds on to go straight back down to the Championship, while Aston Villa are just 7/4 for a short lived return to the top flight.

Lawrence Lyons, spokesperson for BoyleSports said: “We’re expecting it to be business as usual on the opening day with Man City and Liverpool heavy odds-on to get off the mark with 3 points,  but the promoted sides are all odds-on to begin with defeats after being handed away trips on their Premier League return.”

He added: “The outright market is already favouring Man City as 4/6 favourites to do it again, but one of the headlines is their neighbours Manchester United, who at 25/1 find themselves starting the season with their biggest price since the Premier League began.”
