Premier League Saturday Preview

There is a packed Premier League programme on Saturday, but all eyes will firmly be on Stamford Bridge as Liverpool look to maintain their 100% start to the new season.

Chelsea saw their perfect start come to an end last week with a draw at West Ham, but now The Blues will be hoping to bring Liverpool’s run to an end.

Intriguingly, this will be the second game between the two sides this week after Chelsea beat Liverpool at Anfield in the League Cup – and they will be hoping for a repeat.

Liverpool’s six straight wins means they are enjoying the second-longest winning run at the start of a Premier League season, but still some three wins short of the record – ironically held by Chelsea who won nine straight games in 2005.

Should Liverpool lose at Chelsea, then champions Manchester City could go top with victory over Brighton at The Etihad.

Arsenal are looking to continue their excellent run of form with a fifth successive victory as they host Watford in a North London derby.

Should Arsenal win, or draw – then rivals Tottenham would be able to climb above Watford into fourth, if they get the better of win-less Huddersfield at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Newcastle, who are also without a win so far this term, play host to Leicester.

The opener game of the weekend sees Manchester United travel to West Ham, as they look to get back to form and shrug off the off-field issues surrounding boss Jose Mourinho and Paul Pogba.

Elsewhere on Saturday, Wolves entertain Southampton at Molineux whilst Fulham travel to Everton.

See below for a preview on the games, including predictions from former England, Crystal Palace and Tottenham midfielder Andy Gray and our own Football Insider Graeme Bailey and bet365’s Steve Freeth.
