Premier League Saturday Preview

Manchester City are looking to maintain their place at the top of the Premier League table on Saturday.

City are two points clear of neighbours Manchester United at the summit of the Premier League, and both are in action on Saturday at 3 o’clock.

City host Burnley at the Etihad, and victory could take them five points clear – although should they lost and United win at Huddersfield, then the Red Devils could replace them at the top of the table.

The early game sees Champions Chelsea looking to end a run of two successive league defeats, as they host high-flying Watford at Stamford Bridge. Three points for Marco Silva’s side, would see them climb into third about Tottenham – as they are not in action until Sunday.

Bottom-of-the-table Crystal Palace are looking for back-to-back wins after their victory over Chelsea last week, and they travel to the North East to face Newcastle.

Leicester City begin life without Craig Shakespeare with his assistant Michael Appleton in charge for their game at Swasea, and they will be looking for the three points which would lift them out of the bottom three.

Second from bottom Bournemouth cannot move out of the relegation zone, even with victory at Stoke but it would put them into touching distance.

The final game of the day sees the two teams locked in the middle of the table – West Brom and Southampton – clash at St Mary’s in the late game.

See below for a run-down on the games, including predictions from former England, Crystal Palace and Tottenham midfielder Andy Gray, leading agent Barry Silkman and our own Football Insider Graeme Bailey.
