The Premier League season kicks-off this weekend and we take a look at all 20 teams.
Here we have a predicted table based on the odds, along with reaction from every club and also the views of our Football Insider Graeme Bailey.
We give you the ins and outs on every team and some words of wisdom from every manager.
We also have the opinion of all biggest bookmakers and odds experts on the new season.
CLUB BY CLUB PREVIEW – PREDICTED TABLE BASED ON ODDS
1 – MANCHESTER CITY
Ins: Benjamin Mendy, Danilo, Bernardo Silva, Ederson, Kyle Walker, Douglas Luiz
Outs: Fernando Reges, Kelechi Iheanacho, Pablo Zabaleta, Enes Unal, Gael Clichy, Jesus Navas, Willy Cabellero, Bacary Sagna, Bruno Zuculini, Angus Gunn, Aaron Mooy, Joe Coveney, Nolito, Ashley Smith-Brown, Angelino, Bersant Celina, Ruben Sobrino, Olivier Ntcham, Joe Hart
Pep Guardiola: “We have a lot of players with a lot of quality. With all respect to the players lasts season, we were one of the oldest teams in the premier league. We decided last season we could change the team to make the team younger for the next four or five years – so we bought players who are you to be stable for the next years.”
We say: “For me City are the ones to beat, they have invested well and look a much better balanced squad, it won’t be easy as the league could the closest it has been for years but I think Pep might just get it right.”
2 – CHELSEA
Ins: Alvaro Morata, Willy Caballero, Antonio Rudiger, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Ethan Ampadu
Outs; Juan Cuadrado, Christian Atsu, Asmir Begovic, Dominic Solanke, John Terry, Bertrand Traore, Nathan Ake, Tammy Abraham, Kasey Plamer, Ola Aina, Mukhtar Ali, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Alex Kiwomya, Josimar Quintero, Todd Kane, Nathan Chalobah, Lucas Piazon, Marco Van Ginkel, Kurt Zouma, Nemanja Matic
Antonio Conte: “We know it will be difficult next season. We want to try to avoid a Mourinho season. Two years ago the team ended the league in 10th place and we want to try to avoid this.”
We say: “Chelsea will finish top-four, no doubt and will push all the way for the title, don’t think they will retain it but they won’t be far off.”
3 – MANCHESTER UNITED
Ins: Victor Lindelof, Romelu Lukaku, Nemanja Matic
Outs: Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Wayne Rooney, Adnan Januzaj, Josh Harrop, Dean Henderson, Sam Johnstone
Jose Mourinho: “Can we win it? We can, but maybe we don’t. Normally, the second season should be better than the first, because you know the club, you know the players. The players, they know you, the club know you can affect in a positive way the structure. You can affect in a positive way the people that work around you.”
We say: “United have clearly improved with their summer spending and the whole spine looks very good – it could very well be a Cottonopolis top-two and United will be challenging, but may just come up short, but it would be no shock to see Jose lifting the trophy come May.”
4 – TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR
Ins:
Outs: Filip Lesniak, Charlie Owens, Conor Ogilvie, Luke McGee, Kyle Walker, Clinton N’Jie, Federico Fazio
Mauricio Pochettino: “Right, now we need to win some trophies, no? That is good, the pressure. I think it’s important to understand now that we need to be clever how we manage the expectation and how we need to put pressure on our own players.”
We say: “No doubting Tottenham’s starting XI is as good as any in the Premier League and they should be looking at another title tilt, but they need more bodies in the squad, they look short on depth to go all the way – if Kane or Alli got injured, that could spell huge problems.”
5 – ARSENAL
Ins: Sead Kolasinac, Alexandre Lacazette
Outs: Chris Willock, Yaya Sanogo, Stefan O’Connor, Glen Kamara, Kaylen Hinds, Dan Crowley, Wojciech Szczesny – Juventus – £10.5million
Arsene Wenger: “I would like that they [the fans] stand behind the team. We want to be united and together throughout the season – and hopefully we can make them happy at the end of the season.”
We say: “Arsenal have invested quite well, clearly their first-team is better – can they make the top-four again? At this moment in time it looks doubtful.”
6 – LIVERPOOL
Ins: Dominic Solanke, Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson
Outs: Andre Wisdom, Tom Brewitt, Jack Dunn, Alex Manninger, Adam Phillips, Kevin Stewart
Jurgen Klopp: “I’m excited. I’ve been looking forward to the first game since we started pre-season. I’m not the best in pre-season – I’m not very patient. I’m happy that we can start.”
We say: “As it stands Liverpool have not enjoyed the best of pre-seasons when it comes to improving the squad. Things could change by the end of August, but at the moment I think they are one of the big-six to miss out on the top-four.”
7 – EVERTON
Ins: Wayne Rooney, Jordan Pickford, Davy Klaassen, Henry Onyekuru, Sandro Ramirez, Michael Keane, Josh Bowler, Cuco Martina, Nathangelo Markelo, Boris Mathis, Anton Donkor
Outs: Romelu Lukaku, Tom Cleverley, Brendan Galloway, Arouna Kone, Conor McAleny, Delial Brewster, Michael Donohue, Tyias Browning, Ben Pierce, Aiden McGeady, Gerard Deulofeu
Ronald Koeman: “Im really happy with how the new players have settled in, we have a really good team. It’s easy to come to Everton Football Club for the new players. The rest of the squad are open people and the new players feel at home when they move here. They have great futures at Everton and provide the quality we need to improve.”
We say: “Everton are an exciting prospect, they have brought in a number of new faces, they face a battle to break into the top-six and they have a chance, but top-six might be as good as they can hope for this season.”
8 – LEICESTER CITY
Ins: Harry Maguire, Sam Hughes, Vicente Iborra, Eldin Jakupovic, Kelechi Iheanacho
Outs: Ron-Robert Zieler, Cedric Kipre, Marcin Wasilewski, Bartosz Kapustka
Craig Shakespeare: “Premier League survival is good, but I look at the squad and I want to be better than that and I think the players want to be better than that. I think our aim is to try and be competitive in every match, whether we’re playing Chelsea as Premier League winners last season or a team that’s just come up. There will be targets internally and privately and I think it’s important that the players know what’s required.”
We say: “Craig Shakespeare did a great job when he took charge last season and they have made some very good signings this summer, top-half finish all the way for me.”
9 – WEST HAM UNITED
Ins: Pablo Zabaleta, Joe Hart, Marko Arnautovic, Javier Hernandez
Outs: Darren Randolph, Reece Burke, Josh Cullen, Reece Oxford, Alvaro Arbeloa , Sam Howes – Watford, Havard Nordtveit, Stephen Hendrie, Raphael Spiegel, Enner Valencia, Ashley Fletcher
Slaven Bilic: “We have tremendous fans and I can only promise them that I’m going to give my best and the team is going to do its best to do better next season and to give them more enjoyable games and moments because they definitely deserve it”
We say: “West Ham have done so much better this summer, I think they could be in for a very good season. Settled in the London Stadium, I think they could and should be aiming for top-8 minimum.”
10 – SOUTHAMPTON
Ins: Jan Bednarek, Mario Lemina
Outs: Jay Rodriguez, Harrison Reed, Cuco Martina, Lloyd Isgrove, Martin Caceres, Jason McCarthy, Olufela Olomola
Mauricio Pellegrino: “We are ready and looking forward to do our best. The players are fit, all of them, and this is the good news. They are realising the demands of the manager and we have to keep going.”
We say: “Southampton have mid-table written all over them, much will depend on how players react to Pellegrino – if it is good, they could push for top-8, if it is bad they could have to be careful.”
11 – NEWCASTLE UNITED
Ins: Christian Atsu, Florian Lejeune, Stefan O’Connor, Josef Yarney, Jacob Murphy, Javier Manquillo
Outs: Kevin Mbabu, Florian Thauvin, Matz Sels, Alex Gilliead, Vurnon Anita, Yoan Gouffran, Lubomir Satka, Haris Vuckic – FC Twente, Sammy Ameobi, Adam Armstrong
Rafa Benitez: “There will be challenges ahead of course, the summer but the hard work has been going on for some time and we can now continue positively with the development of the squad ahead of the start of the new season.”
We say: “Newcastle”s squad needed work before this summer, but that has not gone according to plan – so things are not looking great at the moment and it looks like Rafa will have a job to keep them up with the current squad.”
12 – AFC BOURNEMOUTH
Ins: Asmir Begovic, Jermain Defoe, Nathan Ake, Connor Mahoney
Outs: Max Travers, Ryan Allsop
Eddie Howe: “The hope is to kick on. I would never be arrogant enough or complacent enough to think that’s a given. We hope the new signings have an impact on the team, but we know how difficult the league is. It’s an incredibly difficult journey we’ve been on and, when you look at the names coming into the Premier League, the managers, the money being spent, it’s only going to get harder.”
We say: “Bournemouth look stronger, and have invested well – could push for top-half finish but squad depth might become an issue.”
13 – STOKE CITY
Ins: Darren Fletcher, Josh Tymon, Tre Pemberton, Kurt Zouma, Bruno Martins-Indi
Outs: Jon Walters, Shay Given, Daniel Bachmann, George Waring, Glenn Whelan, Marko Arnautovic
Mark Hughes: “It gets harder every year and we never underestimate that. We’ve done well to continue to push and one out of four seasons when we just didn’t quite exceed expectations, because prior to that is what we had been doing. It’s a situation we want to improve. That’s a challenge and we’ll use it as a positive. The fact that the general perception is that we underachieved somewhat will help us to make sure it doesn’t happen again.”
We say: “Stoke look strong defensively and they will have too much to be dragged into trouble, but it remains to be seen if they have enough at the other end, it doesn’t look that way.”
14 – WEST BROMWICH ALBION
Ins: Jay Rodriguez, Ahmed Hegazi, Zhang Yu’Ning, Ben Pierce
Outs: Darren Fletcher, Zachary Elbouzedi, Sebastien Pocognoli – Standard Liege, Craig Gardner, Zhang Yu’Ning
Tony Pulis: “It’s small steps for us. We haven’t got the money Everton have got to splash and spend or the other sides. There’s quite a few sides below us who have spent a lot of money as well. If you’re going to stay at a football club you’ve got to do it slowly. People have got to trust you and understand where you’ve got to go.”
We say: “West Brom performed so well last year, they would happily take a repeat and they should not be too far off replicating that – they should be top-half for me.”
15 – CRYSTAL PALACE
Ins: Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Jairo Riedewald, Timothy Fosu Mensah
Outs: Steve Mandanda, Kwesi Appiah – AFC Wimbledon, Jonathan Benteke, Fraizer Campbell, Luke Croll, Mathieu Flamini, Ezekiel Fryers, Joe Ledley, Randell Williams
Frank De Boer: “I want a team where the fans are excited to come to our games, to see a team that wants to win and wants to fight for every minute. That’s always the starting point for me.”
We say: “Going from Sam Allardyce to Frank De Boer could be a major culture shock to the squad and it will be hugely interesting to see how they progress. They should avoid a relegation battle, but not by much.”
16 – SWANSEA CITY
Ins: Roque Mesa, Tammy Abraham, Cian Harries, Marc Walsh, Erwin Mulder
Outs: Jack Cork, Gerhard Tremmel, Marvin Emnes, Liam Shephard, Josh Vickers, Alex Samuel, Borja Baston, Jordi Amat, Bafatembi Gomis, Daniel James, Franck Tabanou, Liam Edwards, Keston Davies, Connor Roberts
Paul Clement: “I am really happy with the way things have gone in pre-season. We have worked hard and we have improved after making a slow start, which can happen.”
We say: “Could be another long hard season in South Wales and they are going to do well to avoid the drop again.”
17 – WATFORD
Ins: Tom Cleverley, Will Hughes, Kiko Femenia, Daniel Bachmann, Nathaniel Chalobah, Harvey Bradbury, Sam Howes
Outs: “Mario Suarez, Rene Gilmartin – Colchester, Ogo Obi, Dennon Lewis, Aly Malle
Marco Silva: “We have confidence in our players in our attack line and in other positions, because we need to be ready for a hard competition like the Premier League.”
We say: “Marco Silva is a hugely impressive boss and he will do his thing at Watford, could even take them to mid-table”
18 – BURNLEY
Ins: Jon Walters, Charlie Taylor, Jack Cork, Phil Bardsley
Outs: Michael Keane, Michael Kightly, Joey Barton, George Green, George Boyd – Sheffield Wednesday, Rouwen Henning, Paul Robinson
Sean Dyche: “It’s going to be inching forwards, not massive strides. That’s how it should be for a team like us. Business-wise it’s not going to be enough financially to jump massively with wages and fees. It’s inching along and building and building and building.”
We say: “I llike the players Burnley have brought in, I think they will fit in very well and Burnley will improve – I don’t see them going down at all.”
19 – BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION
Ins: Pascal Gross, Josh Kerr, Mathew Ryan, Markus Suttner, Mathias Normann, Izzy Brown, Davy Propper
Outs: Casper Ankergren, Vegard Forren, Chris O’Grady, David Stockdale, Elvis Manu, Christian Walton, Rob Hunt
Chris Hughton: “We don’t have many who have played in the Premier League but it is a wonderful step and a massive challenge. They know in most games we will be the underdogs. You are looking at your personalities to rise to that challenge.”
We say: “Brighton have brought in some numbers but have they added enough Premier League quality? Short answer is no. Chris Hughton will have to work wonders to keep them up.”
20 – HUDDERSFIELD TOWN
Ins: Steve Mounie, Laurent Depoitre, Mathias Jorgensen, Jonas Lossl, Aaron Mooy, Tom Ince, Kasey Palmer, Danny Williams, Scott Malone, Elias Kachunga
Outs: Kyle Dempsey – Fleetwood, Joe Murphy, Jordy Hiwula, Tareiq Holmes-Dennis, Fraser Horsfall, Rekeil Pyke
David Wagner: “We are probably the biggest underdog ever in the Premier League but it doesn’t change our ambitions. We are not in the Premier League only to say hello and after one season it’s done. We want to stay more seasons. We know where we are, where we come from, but we will work as hard as we can. I have a very good feeling even if I know there is a difficult task in front of us.”
We say: “Some very interesting signings made and probably the most impressive summer of the three promoted teams, they have a chance of staying up – they look like they might fall short but they have a real chance of staying up.”
