Jose Mourinho is piling the pressure on Manchester United’s board to get more new faces in before the transfer window closes next week.
United’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has only brought in one notable addition to the first-team squad with Brazilian international Fred signing from Shakhtar Donetsk for over £50million.
Diogo Dalot and Lee Grant have also arrived but are squad players, and Mourinho wants more.
“I would like to have two more players, I think I am not going to get two. I think that it’s possible I will have one,” revealed Mourinho.
“And that one, I gave a list to my club of five names a few months ago. And I wait to see if it’s possible to have one of these players.
“If it’s possible, it’s possible. If it’s not, it’s not. If it’s possible, it’s good. If not then we keep fighting and working and believing in the players we have.”
Mourinho’s stance has seen Bookmakers react and he is now classed as second-favourite in the Premier League sack race.
Mourinho is now 7/1, behind only Javi Gracia of Watford who is given odds of 6/1.
“The pressure is already starting to build on Jose Mourinho and we’ve seen a lot of punters backing the Manchester United manager to be the first Premier League boss to leave his job this season,” said Coral’s Harry Aitkenhead.
Coral make it 6/5 that Mourinho is dismissed before the end of the season, whilst it is 3-1 that he receives his marching orders before the 1st of January 2019.
“An indifferent start for Jose this season could see it all start to unravel and a pre-Christmas P45 certainly isn’t out of the question,” added Aitkenhead.
