As we suggested earlier in the week connections of last week’s impressive York winner Lah Ti Dar appear to be leaning towards next month’s Gp 1 Prix Vermeille and the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe in October rather than the St Leger.

Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber’s racing manager Simon Marsh advised they had not yet discounted the final classic of the season, but they don’t consider their three-year-old a stayer and John Gosden’s filly remains 8/1 with BetVictor for the Paris showpiece.

The flat turf racing in Britain is nothing out of the ordinary, but at Tipperary I’m looking forward to seeing the second run of Dermot Weld’s Tarnawa (5.25) who finished third from the worst of the draw at Galway on debut.

The selection holds a Group 1 entry next month and this daughter of Shamardal looks sure to appreciate today’s better ground which was described as yielding on Wednesday by the racecpourse executive – no further rain is forecast.

Yulong Gold Fairy finished a length in front of I Can Fly (5.55) at Galway on soft ground over 7f at the beginning of the month, but I feel today’s additional half a furlong on better ground can see Aidan O’Brien’s filly reverse the form in tonight’s Group 3 feature. The selection won a listed contest at Killarney over a mile last week and that trip clearly suits, but the three-year-old led two furlongs out last time and I hope to see the Ballydoyle filly follow up what was, arguably, a career best effort last time.

At Chelmsford this afternoon Mudallel (2.30) has only been raised 1lb for his head win over C&D here earlier in the month and James Doyle is reunited for Ed Dunlop’s four-year-old. A draw in stall one is normally a plus around the track, but I wouldn’t want to see the selection too far back in this 11-runner field.

Kuiper Belt (5.50 Sedgefield) won three times in 10 days for Gordon Elliot in Scotland at the beginning of the month (1 jumps and two on the flat) and I expect the four-year-old to make most of the 7lbs he receives from Dan Skelton’s Weightfordave who was a beaten favourite at Uttoxeter when last seen six weeks ago.

I am sure there is a race in Golden Vision off her current mark and many argue the time to back a horse following a wind operation is on their second start following their procedure. That might be the case, but I was disappointed with her finishing effort at Worcester last time and she is unlikely to get a soft lead in what looks a better race.

I think the race may be set up for a closer and Boss Des Mottes (6.50) had often threatened to be better than his current mark before a ready winner at Market Rasen earlier in the month from a 7lbs lower mark when very well backed. He gets a narrow vote in a terrific race for the grade.

At Fontwell, Moorlands George (6.05) has a very good record fresh and it was good to see trainer Jeremy Scott have a winner at Stratford earlier in the week. There is plenty of pace in the race and that should suit the selection who has four wins to his name under tonight’s pilot Nico de Boinville.
