A wonderful days racing at Newmarket on Saturday and Middle Park winner the unbeaten Earthllight was cut from 10/1 to 7s at BetVictor for next years 2000 Guineas. Note Andre Fabre’s colt runs in the Blue of Godolphin who also own the brilliant juvenile Pinatubo who is Evens for the first classic of 2020 with BetVictor.

Newton Abbot’s jumps card was abandoned over the weekend but we have a mix of turf and all-weather flat raving to look forward to.

In the opener at Wolverhampton this evening I hope to see Cece Ceylon (5.25) get away on terms which wasn’t the case at Kempton last time when she lost her race at the start. In the circumstances she ran an excellent race to finish best of all into fourth and if she gets away on terms I believe she looks sure to run a big race. Note Harry Bentley is in the saddle for Ralph Beckett and he rode Lets Go Lucky to victory at Lingfield last time from a 6lbs lore mark.

The selection doesn’t have the best of the draw in stall 9 and the blinkers, which she wore for the first time on her last start, are persevered with.

Monogamy (7.50) was too free and failed to get home over 10f on her reappearance at Sandown back in April. She drops back down in trip this evening over an extended mile and she did show plenty of ability when third at Newbury on her sole juvenile start. Note the Martyn Meade yard were under a cloud for much of the early part of the season, but have returned in good form of late.

The Dancing Poet (8.20) would have been a confident selection were it not for his poor draw in stall thirteen of 13, but the hope is that Stevie Donohoe can get Ed Vaughan’s three-year-old into a decent position going into the first bend given he likes to race prominently.

At Bath Celtic Classic (4.40) has won twice already this season and looks open to further improvement for Paul Cole and Rossa Ryan who keeps the ride having been in the plate at Kempton last time. That form has already been franked and a 4lbs rise looks fair.

In the Novice Stakes over a mile I am going to take a chance on Surrey Pride (2.30) who ran a race full of promise when sixth at Sandown on debut. He is entitled to know much more about the job in hand today. Her Majesty’s filly High Shine is another who could leave the form of her first start well behind with that experience under her belt.
