The impressive winner of Saturday’s Solorio Stakes Too Darn Hot is 7/1 favourite for next year’s Derby with BetVictor having been 10/1 in the immediate aftermath of the race. The same Sandown Group 3 was won by Charlie Appleby’s Masar 12 months ago, and it would be no surprise if John Gosden’s colt also went on to Epsom glory after his demolition of a quality field.

The 11f Novice Stakes at Windsor this evening can go to the William Haggas three-year-old Prabeni (7.00) who finished third to the potentially smart Sextant at Newbury last time over an additional furlong. This slight drop back in trip will suit, the runner up (Lady Baker) has already franked the form winning at Chelmsford last week and James Doyle is again in the plate.

Red Charmer was due to run at Brighton yesterday and is unlikely to take his chance in this evening’s competitive finale. The mare Tiar Na Nog has been off the track since winning over C&D 11 weeks ago from a 6lbs lower mark and looks best watched on her return. The maiden Global Style (7.30) is fitted with blinkers for the first time for Ed Dunlop but is bred for the job and Ed Dunlop has his string in very good form of late. Gerard Mosse keeps the ride and he can reward each way support.

At Newcastle this evening the handicap debutante French Heroine (5.20) was trained by William Haggas as a juvenile but showed distinct signs of ability when fourth at Doncaster on her first start for Declan Carroll. She receives weight from her six more exposed rivals and is the half-sister to three middle-distance winners.

Recordman (5.50) has been raised 5lbs for winning at Chelmsford over 10f, but he is equally effective over today’s trip and his third in a good novice event here back in July has been well and truly franked. There is plenty of pace in the race and the drop back in distance from two miles will suit Life On Earth who looked a non-stayer at that trip at Musselburgh last time.

Gleeful (6.20) shaped with promise on debut when staying on at Kempton into third. Roger Varian’s filly holds an entry in the Rockfel Stakes later in the month and Andrea Atzeni keep the mount.

Kynance (7.50) steps up in trip on her second start having finished with a flourish when third (6f) at Doncaster on debut having been very slowly away. Kevin Ryan’s three-year-old is half-sister to a couple of winners and this additional furlong will certainly suit on breeding.

The ground was described as soft at Ffos Las ahead of their card which has been transferred from Chepstow as a result of last week’s abandonment. Wufud (3.45) was a beaten favourite at Salisbury last time but that was back in June and the likelihood is that connections have been waiting for soft ground for their son of Dubawi.

Landue (5.15) is 5lbs higher than when winning at Lingfield (AW) at the end of July over 10f and this lightly-raced colt steps up in trip another couple of furlongs today. Tyler Saunders’ 5lbs claim negates the rise in the weights and the selection has only had five career starts.
