Reds keen to land Robertson

Liverpool are hoping to beat a host of Premier League rivals to Hull City’s Andy Robertson.

The Reds, who have also spoken to Southampton about Ryan Betrand and with Scottish champions Celtic about Kieran Tierney, have now made contact about Robertson – but they are not the only club.

However, the Merseyside giants are hopeful of completing a deal – and sources close to the club have indicated they may even bring in more than one left-back this summer.

I understand Newcastle United are also very keen on the Scottish international, who has been brilliant for The Tigers since arriving from Dundee United in 2014, and will push hard for him. Sources have told me that Burnley, who tried to sign him in January, also remain keen along with West Ham United and Leicester City.

With Hull City’s relegation confirmed at the weekend, a mass exodus is expected from their squad and Robertson will be one of the first big name departures.

Liverpool are in desperate need of cover at left-back, and it is little surprise signing someone in that position is one of their top priorities this summer.

Reaction

We spoke with BetVictor’s Head of ante post Football Michael Triffitt about the market around Robertson, and they make Liverpool short-price favourites to land him.

“It would be a massive surprise if Hull City fullback Andy Robertson was to stay with the Tigers this summer and the Scottish defender has been linked away from Humberside already,” he told TheGamblingTimes.com.

“Liverpool appear to be in pole position and have been supported from 2/1 to 6/4 favourites in recent days to capture the rising star.

“The player looked all set to join Burnley when the clubs agreed a 10m fee during the last window and the Lancashire club can be backed at 4/1 to reignite that deal.

“Plenty of other Premier League clubs look sure to be involved once the dust has settled and we may well see an interesting market develop in due course.”
