Robins rewarded with City semi-final

Championship Bristol City’s reward for beating Manchester United in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals, is a semi-final clash with Premier League champions-elect Manchester City.

The Robins caused a huge shock on Wednesday at Ashton Gate, as Korey Smith slammed home an injury time winner to knock-out the League Cup holders.

Now they will face Man City – who needed a penalty shoot-out to defeat Leicester City on Tuesday.

The other semi-final is a mouthwatering London derby clash as Chelsea – who beat Bournemouth – take on Arsenal, who defeated capital rivals West Ham to make the last four.

Lee Johnson’s City now started Wednesday as 100/1 outsiders, but those odds have been slashed to 25/1 with BetVictor – who make Man City odds on to win at 8/11.

“After been paired with Manchester City in the semi final, the Robins drift to 25/1 from 16/1 whilst the Citizens shorten to 8/11 clear favourites from 5/4,” said BetVictor’s Head of ante post Football Michael Triffitt.

“Chelsea will play Arsenal in a London Derby with the Blues 11/4 from 2/1 and the Gunners 10/3 from 11/4 to lift the trophy.”
