Blackburn Rovers are ready to fend off bids for star midfielder Bradley Dack in January, as long as they are pushing for a play-off spot.
Rovers were promoted from League One last season, but they invested heavily in the summer and are currently just one point off a play-off spot.
Dack has impressed hugely this season, and Rovers have already rebuffed attempts by West Bromwich Albion to land him on deadline day. Over a 24-hours period, I understand West Brom made up to half-a-dozen bids for Dack, with a final offer of £13.5million being lodged – but that was rebuffed.
Now West Brom are one of the clubs gearing up to bid £20million for Dack in January – but sources have confirmed that Rovers’ owners Venkys are ready to reject ‘any’ offer for the playmaker, as long as manager Tony Mowbray has his side in promotion contention.
West Brom are on the look out for a new playmaker for January, as they fear they will lose loan star Harvey Barnes – with parent club Leicester City keen on recalling him.
The England Under-21 man has been brilliant for West Brom, but such has been his form that it has been impossible for Leicester to ignore.
And with Barnes set to depart, Bookmakers firmly believe West Brom are favourites to grab Dack.
Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “The Baggies are chasing an immediate return to the top-flight and capturing Bradley Dack in January would surely go a long way towards achieving exactly that.”
