Ruby Walsh confirms National ride

Ruby Walsh is set to ride Pleasant Company in next week’s Grand National, the Irish star jockey has confirmed.

Walsh had a number of options to choose from with Willie Mullins having five entries for the Aintree showpiece, although not all are guaranteed starters.

So Walsh has opted to go with Pleasant Company – a winner of the Bobbyjo Chase, ahead of Alechi Inois.

Two-time National Walsh told At The Races: “I’d imagine I’ll ride Pleasant Company.

“Alechi (Inois) looks to have an awful lot of weight. It’s probably a summer mark he has more than a winter mark.

“The others of ours from 55 downwards, will they get in? It’s touch and go.”

We spoke with BetBright’s Conor White about Walsh’s ride for the National.

“The 9 year old won the Bobbyjo Chase at Fairyhouse in February, a race which has proved a strong indicator for Aintree success and is currently priced at 16/1 with BetBright which will surely shorten with Ruby in the plate come next weekend,” he told The GamblingTimes.com.
