Rugby World Cup Preview – Day 16

After Monday’s rest day, the Rugby World Cup bursts into midweek action on Tuesday as South Africa take on Canada, before a triple header on Wednesday.

The Springboks play their final Pool B against a struggling Canada side, knowing they need a bonus-point win to all-but secure a quarter-final berth.

Italy are level with South Africa on 10 points, but with a 70-point advantage on points difference, a bonus-point victory over the Canadians would mean on a 70-plus triumph over the All Blacks could give the Azzurri a hope of progression.

After their opening round defeat to New Zealand, the Springboks have grown in form with victories over Namibia and Italy, while Canada remain winless from their two matches to date.

South Africa, entering the competition as second favourites behind the All Blacks, will regain control of Pool B temporarily on Tuesday with victory over Canada, who will offer little in the way of opposition.

Canada have surrendered 112 points in their two matches to date and the Springboks could do with a significant winning margin to bolster their campaign.
