Saints eye Helder Costa deal

Southampton are leading the chase for Wolves winger Helder Costa, who looks set to leave Molineux this summer.

The Portuguese winger has been a huge success at Molineux this season after arriving from Benfica, initially on-loan before a £13million deal in January.

But now with Wolves not going up, Costa is set to move to the Premier League and I understand Southampton are in pole position to land him.

Up to half-a-dozen clubs have contacted with Wolves – including Tottenham, Everton, West Ham and West Brom.

Foreign clubs like Monaco and AC Milan have also checked on him, but it is the Saints who have stepped up their interest and are ready to match the £25million valuation of the 23-year-old.

A source told me: “Southampton feel they are just about there with him – he has been sensational for Wolves and they want it doing sooner rather than later.”

Bookmakers price West Brom as 4/1 favourites to land Costa, with Southampton next best at 6/1.
